FRANKFORT, IN — The Benton Central Bison battled valiantly Saturday afternoon but were unable to overcome the second-half surge of the Oak Hill Golden Eagles, falling 75–56 in the Regional round at Everett Case Arena. Benton Central came out with energy and confidence, matching the highly ranked Golden Eagles step for step throughout the first half. The Bison executed well on both ends of the floor and kept the game within reach, closing the gap to just two points during the opening half. Their defensive intensity and disciplined play frustrated Oak Hill early and demonstrated the determination that carried the Bison throughout the postseason. However, in the second half, Oak Hill was able to create separation and gradually extend its lead. Despite the Bison continuing to compete and battle for every possession, the Golden Eagles’ offensive rhythm proved difficult to contain down the stretch. Leading the way offensively for Benton Central were Peyton Thayer with 17 points, Andrew Plassard with 16 points, and Bennett Senesac with 15 points, as the Bison continued to battle throughout the contest. With the loss, Benton Central concludes its season with an 11–15 record, highlighted by a memorable postseason run that culminated in the program’s first sectional championship in 24 years. The 2025–26 season will be remembered not only for that championship moment but also for the leadership and dedication of the team’s senior class. Bennett Senesac, Andrew Plassard, Grady Rudolph, Peyton Thayer, Ethan Schieler, and Sam Oswald played a pivotal role in guiding the Bison to the Delphi Sectional title and helping restore championship pride to the Benton Central boys basketball program. Their commitment, perseverance, and leadership have left a lasting impact on the program and set a strong foundation for the future of Bison basketball. Benton Central Athletics extends its sincere appreciation to these seniors for their hard work, leadership, and the legacy they leave behind. Their contributions will be remembered as a key part of a special season for Bison basketball.
