March basketball has arrived, and the Benton Central Bison are preparing for postseason play as they compete in the 2026 IHSAA Boys’ Basketball Sectional 37 at Delphi Community High School. Benton Central enters sectional play with a 9–14 overall record, but the numbers tell a deeper story. The Bison finished 3–1 against sectional opponents during the regular season — proof that this group is more than capable of making a strong postseason push. Proven Success Within the Sectional The Bison opened their run against sectional foes on January 17 with a gritty 54–49 victory over host school Delphi (13–10). In a tight contest, Benton Central executed down the stretch to secure the win on their home floor. Just one week later, the Bison delivered one of their most impressive performances of the season. On January 24, Benton Central put on an offensive clinic 68-26 in a decisive win over Rensselaer Central (3–20), showcasing balanced scoring and efficient execution. The only blemish against sectional competition came on January 30, when Seeger (15–8) visited and handed the Bison a 62–53 defeat in another competitive contest. On February 5, Benton Central hit the road for its final matchup against the sectional field and turned in one of its most complete performances of the year. The Bison traveled to North Montgomery (6–17) and dominated the Chargers 51–30, displaying defensive intensity and disciplined play from start to finish. Benton Central did not face Western Boone during the regular season, leaving that potential matchup as an unknown element in the bracket. Postseason basketball often resets the narrative. Records matter less. Execution, toughness, and composure matter more. The Bison have already shown they can win close games, score efficiently, defend at a high level, and perform both at home and on the road against sectional opponents. Now, the opportunity is in front of them to put it all together at the right time. March Brings Opportunity There is something special about sectional week in Indiana. Packed gyms. High intensity. Every possession magnified. For Benton Central, the path is clear: lean on experience against familiar opponents, defend with purpose, and trust the work put in throughout the season. The regular season provided preparation. The postseason now provides possibility. The Bison are ready. Go Bison.
