Bison Duo Foster and Widmer Ink National Letters of Intent

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Benton Central’s Foster and Widmer Sign National Letters of Intent Oxford, IN — November 19, 2025 — Benton Central High School proudly celebrated two standout seniors on Wednesday evening as Cali Foster and Bella Widmer officially signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the NCAA Division I level. Cali Foster – Western Kentucky University (WKU) Senior outside hitter Cali Foster signed to continue her volleyball career at Western Kentucky University, where she will join the Hilltoppers in the fall of 2026. Foster plans to major in Nursing, beginning her academic and athletic journey on one of the nation’s most respected mid-major volleyball stages. A dynamic attacker and all-around athlete, Foster has been instrumental to the success of Benton Central volleyball. Known for her powerful swing, court intelligence, and competitive drive, Cali has consistently elevated the Bison program through her leadership and strong work ethic. “Cali is an explosive, high-character player who brings out the best in everyone around her,” said Head Coach Scott Mattson. “Her commitment, her love for the game, and the way she pushes herself every day make her incredibly fun to coach. WKU is getting an exceptional student-athlete and an even better person.” Foster’s impact extends well beyond the court. She has earned the respect of her teammates, coaches, and the Benton Central community through her dedication, positive attitude, and passion for representing the Bison. Bella Widmer – University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Defensive specialist/libero Bella Widmer signed to continue her volleyball career at the University of Texas at El Paso, joining the Miners’ NCAA Division I program in the fall of 2026. Widmer intends to major in Biology/Pre-Med as she pursues both academic excellence and athletic achievement. A defensive standout, Widmer has been a cornerstone of Benton Central’s success throughout her high school career. Her relentless energy, elite court awareness, and consistency in the libero role have anchored the Bison defense and set the tone for the program. “Bella is the kind of athlete every coach hopes to have—hardworking, coachable, and passionate about the game,” Coach Mattson said. “Her commitment to excellence both on and off the court has set a high standard for our program. We’re excited to see her compete at the next level.” Widmer’s work ethic extends to the classroom as well, where she has excelled academically with a 4.1 GPA, serving as a role model to teammates and peers alike. A Special Night for Benton Central Athletics Benton Central High School is proud to recognize Cali and Bella not only for their athletic talents, but for the leadership, character, and dedication they have brought to the school and community.
