Avon High School

The 2026 Avon Golf team has high expectations. Our schedule is outstanding with 18 Varsity matches and 10 JV matches. We play some of Central Indiana's best courses: Brickyard Crossing, Bear Slide, Country Club of Indianapolis, Ulen Country Club, Trophy Club, Fox Cliff, and more. Our guys have worked hard since June of last year and the early season scores reflect their work. With 28 students attending tryouts, it highlighted the energy in our program, and produced the team competition and depth we need to be successful. All 17 players on the roster earned it. The team is led by two Juniors who were on our Sectional roster last season, Griffin Ray and Eric Majors. We also have 5 Seniors, 4 who are returning players. Lucas Denson (committed to Hanover College Golf Team), Garrett Weber, Sean Kiel, Matt Worgess, and Griffin Gongwer. Every Senior's score is good enough for our Varsity roster. Add to this mix 4 Freshman and 5 additional returning Juniors and our team is solid. The team is led by 2nd Year Head Coach Jonathan Mayo, along with Coach Bruce Merrill (5th season), and we welcome back to the golf family Coach Zac Treash. Coach Treash led the 2021 Avon Golf team to State. Beyond our scores, we strive to live out our team values on the course, in the classroom, and everywhere we go. Compete. Respect. Love.
