After going 20-12 in the 2025 season, the Orioles graduated 10 seniors and 6 college pitching commitments. Despite the losses to graduation, The Orioles will still have a senior dominated team and will be counting on several new players stepping up this season. The Orioles still return three key starters with varsity experience that will help lead the Orioles. Senior shortstop Clayton Lenz (.380 BA, 8 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 19 SB), senior infielder Jack Bland (.352 BA, 3 2B, 1 HR), and senior catcher Caleb Wessel (.271 BA, 3 2B) will bring proven offensive production to the top of line-up. Junior middle infielder Jaden Mitchell, junior catcher Xavier Esslinger, and junior outfielder Caleb McIntyre all have varsity experience and will have a major impact offensively and defensively for the Orioles. The team will also get valuable contributions from senior outfielders Andrew Myers, Kaven Tislow, and Jon Turk Jr, junior outfielder Rylee Crain, and senior utility player Grady Swain. Freshman first baseman Christian Wessel and freshman outfielder Braxton Kellermeier will come in right away and help the team offensively. On the mound, the Orioles will be looking to replace 85% of innings pitched in 2025. Senior Jackson Mitchell (2 Wins, 25 K in 18 IP, 3.5 ERA), senior Andrew McIntyre (2 Wins, 7 K in 8.1 IP), are the two returning varsity pitchers. Sophomore Kail Tislow, freshman Christian Wessel, and sophomore Brayden Babbitt will be counted on for major innings this season. Senior Mitchell Alarie, senior Koel Whaley, junior Preston Miller, and junior Elijah Lacey will primarily come out of the bullpen and play a key role for the pitching staff. The Avon baseball team will again start the season with a spring break trip to Clarksville, Tennessee. We are also looking forward to the challenge of competing in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference again this season with five teams in the pre-season Top 10. The players and coaches at all three levels are ready to have a successful and enjoyable season for Avon baseball!
