Turner medals with 39; Tigers defeat Burris 169-195 + Katy Perry Thoughts

Yorktown Lady Tiger Golfers travel to Cardinal Hills (Selma) and defeat host Muncie Burris 169-195. On a challenging, pretty tricky golf course, Yorktown's 169 score was rock solid on the evening, and its fifth score (the kicker not used in team scoring) of 44 is a wonderful trend as the team prepares for its toughest challenge of the season: Cobblestone Golf Club @ 8 am this coming Saturday. Scoring Grace Turner 39 (medalist) Lucy Melton 42 Lilly Duncan, Lindsey Mathews, Alysse Taylor 44 Bailey Briles 59 Grace Grace Turner's round was highlighted by an eagle on the par 5 6th hole. On a tricky, tight par five, Grace bombed a driver down the left side of the fairway and then hit a beautiful 7-iron (high draw around the right side of a tree; into the wind from 147 yards) to about twelve feet, directly below the hole location. Grace walked in her eagle putt, and it was glorious. Her fans were impressed and are likely growing in number after Grace's individual victory. Ace Lucy "Ace" Melton, fresh off her hole in one on Saturday, continued her strong play during her sophomore season, in a round that featured five pars. Aside from one somewhat disastrous hole, Lucy carded eight modified quality holes of bogey or better (89% of her holes), her highest percentage of the season. If Lucy continues in this direction, look out. This girl can really golf her ball. Jimmy John's Huge thanks to Jimmy John's and the Yorktown Golf Booster Club for coming through clutch with away match meals. Yours truly enjoyed a #4 Turkey Tom with cheese. Coach Boehm's order, which I am certain took the chef about seventeen minutes to assemble, is quite complex and would not fit within our character limit allowed for this article. The girls seemed to enjoy their food as well. Katy Perry's Teenage Dream Album Just some housekeeping here...it was discussed on the drive Saturday that Katy Perry's 2010 album titled Teenage Dream may be the greatest compilation of music, in the history of musical poetry. Sure, everyone has heard of Firework (4th of July perhaps the greatest holiday celebrated in this country), Teenage Dream, and Last Friday Night, but many forget the other absolute bangers on this album, including one of the greatest songs of the 2010s California Girl, featuring Snoop Dogg (double the G). ET and The One That Got Away were also and continue to be appreciated by Pop Radio around the world. Without question, Katy Perry is a genius who is under-appreciated for her work in multiple genres of music. If you decide to dabble in KP, be sure to review her 2008 masterpiece Waking up in Vegas, as well as Unconditionally, which dropped in 2013. You're welcome. Next Up: Lots of young Tigers are on the road to Hickory Hills on Tuesday. Stay tuned tomorrow for results.
