Yorktown boys tennis falls to New Palestine in their first conference match The Tigers traveled to New Pal on Thursday, Aug. 21, to face the Dragons in their conference opener. The varsity team lost 0-5, and the JV squad finished with 6 wins and 9 losses. At No. 1 varsity singles, senior Reid Butts fell 3-6, 0-6 against his opponent, and No. 2 and No. 3 faced a similar fate: Junior Aaron Buehler lost 2-6, 1-6, and sophomore Nolan Clark went 0-6, 0-6. In varsity doubles action, No. 1 senior duo Palmer Jones and Noah Kelly struggled in the first set (0-6) before staging a comeback in the second. They earned a set point — but ultimately couldn't convert it, going 5-7 in the second set. At No. 2, sophomores Colton Nickols and Jackson West fell 2-6, 0-6. This result puts the Tigers' varsity team at 1-1 (and 0-1 conference) for the Fall 2025 season. The JV squad posted a few Ws for the night. Most notably, at No. 2 singles, Ethan Hellems (10) bested his Dragons opponent 6-4. Later into the night, at No. 4 singles, senior Ethan Gamble posted a 6-0 win. The Tigers' boys tennis team has their first home meet versus Shenandoah on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The match starts at 5 PM.
