Your Lady Tigers shot a team score of 340, the lowest team score by a Yorktown girls golf team in over ten years, and won the 2025 Delaware County Championship, played at the Muncie Elks on Saturday afternoon. Delta finished second, shooting 379, followed closely by Wapahani with 384. ------------------ Freshman Lilly Duncan was crowned Medalist, in her tournament debut as a Tiger. Lilly played rock solid golf all day long, making only one double bogey (hole 10); this young lady is darn good right now and has an incredibly bright future. ------------------ Sophomore Lucy Melton finished second individually with a career-low 85. After a rocky start (+8 after four holes), Lucy played her final fourteen (14) holes in just five-over par. This girl is good. ------------------ Senior Grace Turner and sophomore Lindsey Mathews finished in a tie for third place, both shooting 87. Grace demonstrated a lot of grit in her round, shooting a very nice score despite not having her best stuff for stretches of the day. Lindsey, meanwhile, made an eagle on the par five 15th hole and added a near ace on hole 2 (made the birdie putt). Junior Alysse Taylor showed flashes of absolute brilliance, firing 88; this young lady has become a rock solid player and has learned to really think her way around a golf course. ------------------ Coach McClung and Coach Boehm were on their grind all day as well, meeting on only a few occasions and making the most of the IHSAA's two coaches rule. The writer of this article would like to thank Coach Terry Boehm for his massive contributions to Yorktown Golf, as well as his dedication to making young people better every single day. We are fortunate to have the best co-head coach in the state of Indiana here at Yorktown High School. Coach Boehm is not just a pretty face. ------------------ The ladies will road trip to Hickory Hills Golf Club next weekend for the Monroe Central Invitational. Last season, Grace Turner's 81 was medalist at this event; she looks to repeat and lead the Lady Tigers to perhaps a team title as well. Big things coming!
