Yorktown High School

The YHS cheerleaders attended UCA camp at Indiana University 7/7-7/10. It was a very successful week! JV received blue ribbons (game day ready!) on their cheer and camp routine evaluations throughout the week. Varsity received gold ribbons (best routine in their eval group!) for their cheer and camp routine evaluations! In the competition on the final day, JV earned 1st in stunt sequence and 2nd in cheer in the JV and under division. Varsity earned 1st in both cheer and stunt sequence and 2nd in camp routine in the varsity division. Both teams received a specialty award for best timing in stunt sequence. 9 cheerleaders were chosen as UCA All-Americans: Juniors Emmalee Kelley, Maryn Metzler, and Josie Taylor; Sophomores Kaylee Holmes and Hopelyn Holland; and Freshmen Tyli Curtis, Jesenia Gonzales, Layla Halter, and Jade Newman. Emmalee Kelley and Maryn Metzler were in the top 3 in the camp-wide jump contest. Josie Taylor was selected by our camp leader for the Pin-it-forward award as an athlete who showed exemplary leadership throughout camp. Kaylee Holmes was pinned by an athlete from Mooresville as a cheerleader who had a positive impact on her camp experience. Maria Yant received an invitation to try out for UCA staff in the spring. Most importantly, the coaches received compliments all week long from camp staff, other coaches, and other cheerleaders about how fun, kind, and encouraging our athletes were!!
