Our Whiting Oilers competed at Sectionals over the weekend, bringing a great season to a close! Almost every runner set a new personal record, and our athletes left the course with smiles, pride, and a sense of accomplishment. This team showed tremendous growth, determination, and heart all season long! ⭐ Standout Performances: * Boys: Emiliano Lara continued his incredible streak, setting a personal record at EVERY meet he competed in this season! He finished strong at Sectionals, shaving a full minute off his previous best. * Girls: Camila Ortiz battled through knee issues throughout the season and finished with the performance she had been working toward, setting a new personal record by an amazing minute and a half! We also say farewell to our seniors, whose hard work and leadership have helped build something special within this program. While the season may not have ended exactly how they hoped competitively, their legacy will live on through the foundation they’ve helped create for the future. A special thank-you to Highland for allowing our team to take a little extra time to soak in the moment together. As Coach reminded the team, win or lose, we did it together. That is what being an Oiler is all about! The future is bright for Whiting Cross Country, and we can’t wait to see what’s next. Congratulations to our runners and coaches on an outstanding season!
