The Western Boone boy's golf team hosted a strong Tri-West team on Thursday night at Cool Lake Golf Course. Despite dropping the match 184-161, it was the best performance by the Stars in the past two seasons. Evan Terwiske led the way for the Stars with a 42, highlighted by an eagle on the par five hole #8. Luke LaGrange trailed closely behind, firing a 44. Ben Fortner and Asher Foy would complete the scoring, carding 49 each. For Foy, it was his first career round breaking 50, as he continues to improve and become more consistent each match. As a team, it was also the first time in two seasons that four golfers broke the 50 barrier in the same match. The Stars have also now reduced their opening match score by more than 40 strokes. Also playing were Alex Thompson with a 51, and senior Artie Milliser, scoring a 58. Milliser, who won the spot in a team competition, showed great resiliency to rebound from an extremely rough start and finish strong, including a birdie on hole #8. The Stars hope to carry some momentum into Saturday where they will participate in the Covington Invite at Rivercrest Golf Club.
