Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The varsity girls tennis team went 1-2 at their tournament Saturday. In round 1, they defeated Speedway 4-1 before coming up short in a close 2-3 match versus Benton Central in round 2. 1D Ransom/Smith and 2D Maners/Anderson locked in two early points for the Stars, while 1S and 3S lost. The match came down to 2S Brunty who came back from an 0-6, 2-5 deficit to force a third set tiebreaker, but ultimately came up just shy of the victory. In the final round of the day, the Stars lost 1-4 to Lafayette Central Catholic in a matchup that saw multiple close scores. The highlight of the day was the sophomore 2D duo of Maners/Anderson going undefeated and earning medals. The Stars are now 5-4 and will begin conference play on Monday when they host Frankfort at 5pm.
