The Lady Stars battled the Speedway on Tuesday evening, fighting until the end but falling short of the Sparkplugs and ending with a final score of 36-42. The Stars had s lot of energy and intensity before the game, focused and hopeful to get a win on Senior Night. From the start of the game, the Lady Stars got into good scoring position, but struggled to capitalize on those opportunities and finish around the basket and at the free throw line. Defensively, the team played with aggressiveness, but couldn't stop the Sparkplugs from getting multiple looks at the basket each possession. The Stars went into halftime down 12-20, doing their best to regroup, refocus, and turn things around in the second half. The Lady Stars stepped up and responded, going on a 7-0 run at the start of the third quarter to cut Speedway's lead down to 1. Unfortunately, the Stars couldn't keep up the intensity, battling until the end but unable to make up the scoring deficit. The team was led in scoring by Emmerson Gott with 12 points, followed by Ila Stokes with 9. The Lady Stars would like to thank seniors Lillie Cripe and Ki'erra Koch for their dedication to the program over the past four years. Their hard work, leadership, and determination have all made a tremendous impact on the team and will be missed! The JV Girls Basketball team hosted Speedway Tuesday. The Stars got off to a slow start finishing the first quarter down 5 to 9 but put up 12 in the second to go into the half up 17 to 14. The Spark Plugs pushed back in the third quarter to go up 6 and continued into the fourth to end Webo's five game winning streak handing them a loss of 41 to 32. As always they played hard and gave everything they had against a very talented team. The Stars are back in action on Friday as they take on conference rival Danville at home.
