The Western Boone 8th grade football team wrapped up their season last night at home, leaving no doubt on their way to defeating the North Putnam Cougars 30 - 0. With the victory, the Stars completed not only a perfect season but capped off a perfect junior high campaign finishing 14 - 0 overall. For the game, the Stars started hot on offense, scoring in just two plays. The defense would employ a bend but don't break approach for the half, making three key stops along the way and allowing the offense to add another score just before halftime. In the second half, things got tougher for the Cougar offense as the Stars defense tightened up further. This allowed the Western Boone offense to start with great field position and add two more scores in the third quarter. Quarterback Bryson Potter, once again, both ran the offense and threw the ball with precision, passing over the top routinely and hitting for two scores, one to Carter Crahen and the other to Nate Muir. Cannon Dunk added two rushing touchdowns, while Gage Miller added two rushing conversions, and Potter added another. Over the past two seasons, this group has seen every single player on the roster make a key contribution, big play, be selfless, or create a highlight moment on their way to their perfect record. Having left their mark on the junior high program, Easton Banks, Carter Crahen, Cannon Dunk, Corbin Eckert, Austin Harlow, TJ McKinney, Gage Miller, Nate Muir, Levi Nelson, Brayden Newman, Elijah Pastore, Bryson Potter, Wyatt Redman, Gunner Shirley, Blake Stokes, Ty Williamson, and Spencer Worrell now turn their attention to their high school football careers.
