It was a heartbreaking three-set loss for the Western Boone 6th Grade Volleyball team Tuesday night as the Stars battled Frankfort all the way to the finish, falling 22-25, 25-10, and 13-15. The opening set was a battle from the start. Everlee Hubbell came up with a huge block at the net, while Paisley shined from the service line and helped keep the Stars within striking distance. Western Boone continued to fight, but couldn't quite close the gap, dropping the first set 22-25. Set two was a completely different story — the Stars came to play! Georgia Massingill set the tone immediately, opening the set with an incredible 11 straight points from the service line, including eight aces! Her dominant serving run gave the Stars all the momentum they needed, and Western Boone never looked back on its way to a commanding 25-10 victory. The connection between Claire Morison and Everlee Hubbell continued to be a highway to success for the Stars in the second set as well, with Claire setting up Everlee for attacks and helping the offense find its rhythm. There was no question which team came ready to fight in set two — the Stars wanted it and showed it on the court. With the match on the line in the third set, the Stars got off to a slow start, but they weren't going away without a fight. Some great serving from Addie Everhart helped Western Boone battle back and tie the set at 8-8. From there, the teams fought point-for-point, but the Stars just couldn't string together enough points at the right time to get over the hump. Frankfort ultimately took the deciding set 15-13. While it wasn't the outcome the Stars wanted, the fight and determination were there until the very last point. Now there is just ONE match left in an incredible season for this group! The Stars will hit the road Thursday and head to Lebanon for one final matchup — taking on their rival Tigers for the second time this season. One more opportunity. One more rivalry match. One more chance for the Stars to shine!
