The Western Boone Stars came to the Clinton Prairie Tournament ready to play, putting together a dominant day of volleyball and finishing as TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS! The Stars went undefeated on the day, winning all three matches in two sets and going a perfect 6-0 in sets. WeBo opened tournament play against Rossville and wasted no time setting the tone, cruising to wins of 25-4 and 25-8. The service line was the story of the opening set. Georgia Massingill put together a run of more than 10 points, including 7 aces, before Everlee Hubbell followed with more than 11 points from the line and an incredible 9 aces. The Stars also began finding their offense with a great assist and attack connection between Olive Jackson and Georgia. Georgia picked up right where she left off to start the second set, serving 6 straight points with 3 aces. The Stars continued to build offensively as well, with Claire Morison connecting with Everlee on a couple of great plays and Olive finding Everlee for another attack. With Match 1 in the books, the Stars moved on to face the Clinton Prairie B team and kept rolling, winning 25-10 and 25-8. This time, WeBo really started showing off its setter-attacker connections. Claire connected with Alaina Quilter three different times for attacks, while also setting up Everlee for another strong attack. Olive connected with Addie Everhart for an attack, and Everlee added a perfectly placed tip. The Stars continued to dominate from the service line as well, finishing the match with an impressive 22 team aces. Two matches. Two sweeps. And that meant it was time for the championship match against Clinton Prairie A. The energy in the gym was much higher for the championship, but the Stars never let that throw them off their game. Instead, they stayed composed, focused on setting up the ball and continued playing the same style of volleyball that had gotten them there. And it worked. The Stars took the championship in two, winning 25-14 and 25-7! The Claire-to-Everlee connection was on fire in the championship, connecting four different times, including an incredible spike from Everlee. Olive and Georgia also found their rhythm, connecting three times for attacks. And, just as they had all day, the Stars continued to cause problems from the service line, finishing the championship match with another 21 aces. From the first serve of Match 1 to the final point of the championship, the Stars put together an incredible day of volleyball. They stayed composed, served aggressively, set up their offense and, most importantly, played together. Three matches. Three wins. Six sets played. Six sets won. The Stars are bringing home the Clinton Prairie Tournament Championship and improve their season record to an incredible 11-1! WeBo now heads into the final week of the season with plenty of momentum. The Stars will be back on their home court Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Frankfort as they look to finish an incredible season strong. GO STARS!
