The Western Boone Lady Stars made Senior Night a memorable one, putting together a strong performance on both ends of the field to shut out conference opponent Frankfort, 4-0. The Stars controlled the action early but had to wait until the closing minutes of the first half to break through. With 13 minutes remaining, Lyla Kinsler was in the right place at the right time, pouncing on a rebound just outside the six-yard box and burying it to give Western Boone a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. It didn’t take long for the Stars to add to their advantage after the break. Just seven minutes into the second half, Eisley Whiteley cleaned up another rebound in front of goal to double the lead at 2-0. Western Boone continued to apply the pressure, and with 23 minutes remaining, Kinsler helped create the third goal of the night. She played Makenna Harrison into space for a breakaway, and Harrison calmly finished the one-on-one opportunity against the Frankfort keeper to make it 3-0. Harrison wasn’t finished. Just seven minutes later, she created a scoring chance of her own by winning the ball with a steal, beating the Frankfort back line and firing a shot into the side netting for her second goal of the night and the final tally in a convincing 4-0 Stars victory. The Senior Night shutout moves Western Boone into fifth place in the Monon Athletic Conference with just one regular-season match remaining. The Stars will hit the road Wednesday for their regular-season finale against the Crawfordsville Athenians before shifting their focus to the postseason. Western Boone will open sectional play on October 6 at Cascade, where the Stars will square off against the host Cadets in the late game with their season on the line.
