Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The High School Cross Country team competed at Southmont Tuesday evening in the Leap Into September invitational, running against all local MAC teams. The girls had perfect running conditions on a fun hilly course, and Joan Gearheart ran through the finish first for the Stars for a 3rd place medal and a season best time of 21:55. Abigayle Humphrey was close behind, running for a 4th place medal and season best time of 22:11. Claire Torp stayed strong and ran for a 6th place medal and a season best time of 23:37, putting her on the Girls All-Time list. Katrina Brewer had a new PR in 16th place (26:06), followed by Britney Richwine with season best (27:24) and Adalyn Sartin with a season best (27:50). The girls team finished in 2nd place overall. In the boys race, Aiden Lester sprinted to the end running for a 4th place medal and season best time of 17:31. Brennen Bivens was next for the Stars, finishing with a 5th place medal in 17:46. Ari Smith won the 7th place medal (18:16), and Charlie Jones finished with the 10th place medal and new PR (18:51). Caleb Crockett crossed the line in 20th place (19:52), followed by Griffin Johanson who dropped over a minute for a new PR in 24th place (20:10). Rex Stanley finished in 25th place (20:31), followed by Kole Nelson in 30th place with a new season best time (21:22), Hayden Trenary in 31st with a new PR (21:33), Blaine Ballentine in 35th (22:03), Simon Yarger in 42nd with a new PR (24:51), Izaak Harsin in 45th with a new season best (27:09), and Jacob Nance in 46th with a new season best (28:07). The boys also finished the meet in 2nd place overall. The Stars will compete again in the Nike XC Town Twilight on Saturday, October 3rd.
