The Western Boone 8th grade football team moved to 5-0 on the season in a nearly flawless performance at home on Tuesday night vs Frankfort, winning 50 - 0. After mishandling the opening kickoff and starting the first drive from their own 10, everything else fell into place. The Stars quickly found their rhythm & execution and hit every play dialed up from that point on. Scoring twice in the opening quarter, the Stars would add another on the opening play of the 2nd when Carter Crahen found TJ McKinney 40 yards behind the defense on a newly installed reverse pass play. The onslaught would continue until the Stars chose to kneel out the first half, leading 34-0. The first half effort allowed the Stars to get several new faces in the backfield in the 2nd half and watched them continue the highlight package. Ty Williamson had two eye popping carries, while linemen Easton Banks & Corbin Eckert also got opportunities to run the ball. Quarterback Bryson Potter had his best game of the season, hitting on every pass, including a touchdown, while managing the offense with a lot of players shifting positions. A long list of scorers for the Stars included: Easton Banks (conversion, rushing), Crahen (conversion, rushing), Eckert (touchdown, rushing), Cannon Dunk (conversion, rushing), Austin Harlow (touchdown, rushing), McKinney (touchdown, receiving from Crahen), Gunner Shirley (conversion, rushing), Gage Miller (touchdown and two conversions, all rushing), Wyatt Redman (touchdown, receiving from Potter) and Williamson (touchdown, rushing). Elijah Pastore and Spencer Worrell put in the work up front to get their teammates the opportunities, while Blake Stokes and Nate Muir added phenomenal route running and spectacular catches to the effort. Not to be outdone, the defense also added to the board, securing a team safety (by penalty), dominated the line of scrimmage with physical play, and secured two takeaways, including an interception by Eckert. They held the Hot Dogs to a net negative total yards on their way to their second shutout in two weeks. The Stars look to stay unbeaten when they host Crawfordsville on Saturday at noon, in a game previously postponed due to heat.
