The Webo Cross Country team arrived at Hamilton Heights Thursday evening ready to take on strong competition in the blistering heat. Joan Gearheart was first to cross the finish line for the Lady Stars winning a 15th place medal at 23:28. Abigayle Humphrey followed close behind and finished in 17th place (23:51), and Claire Torp ran for 20th place (24:14). Harmony Gilbrech finished in 27:47, followed by Katrina Brewer (29:14), Adalyn Sartin (30:42), and Britney Richwine (31:39). The boys were up next to run in the relentless heat, and Aiden Lester sprinted through the finish for a 4th place medal in 17:35. Just steps behind, Brennen Bivens finished for a 5th place medal in 17:43. Ari Smith ran for 19th place (18:27), and Charlie Jones sprinted to the end for 25th place and a new season best time of 18:59. Rex Stanley finished 1 minute faster than last year at this race for 35th place (20:07), and Blaine Ballentine ran for 44th place and a new season best time of 21:36. Caleb Crockett finished in 45th place (21:52), followed by Griffin Johanson (22:19, 50th), Kole Nelson (22:50, 55th), Hayden Trenary (23:07, 57th), Simon Yarger (26:14), Izaak Harsin (28:19), and Jacob Nance (35:58). The boys finished in 4th place out of 11 teams. The Stars will race again this Saturday at the Flashrock Invitational in Carmel.
