Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

Western Boone's varsity baseball team traveled to Fountain Central Monday evening and came away with a 10-8 victory. This was the Stars third win a row and they have now won 4 of their last 5 games. Fountain Central plated just one earned run in the contest, two untimely errors committed by the Stars really cost them on the score board. Newcomer Drew Potts started on the mound for the Stars in his first game for Western Boone. Potts pitched for two innings and allowed just one earned run on two hits, he struck out one. Evan Kiplinger pitched for four innings. Kiiplinger was again very consistent and allowed 0 earned runs against just two hits while striking out two. Owen Oakley pitched the first two outs of the seventh inning. Oakley did more than enough to finish the game but after a really unfortunate bounce on what would typically be a routine ground ball, the game continued. Oakley allowed 0 earned runs and recorded a strike out as well. With two runners on and the winning run up to bat, Easton Nance was called upon to face what would be the final Mustang hitter. Nance completed one third of an inning facing one batter and recording one strike out, allowing 0 earned runs. Pitching was truly a team effort Monday evening. Offensively the Stars were very productive all evening long. Easton Nance lead the offense with three hits which included a single, double, and a triple; he also plated a team leading three RBIs. Layton Yancey recorded two hits. Drew Potts contributed his first varsity hit which was a double that included an RBI! Bea Sawyer also had a double which resulted in an RBI. Kane Jackson had a single with an RBI. Levi Stewart had a single of his own. Jack Mallory recorded the team's other two RBIs. Overall the Stars had a good offensive approach all evening. Western Boone hosts North Putnam tonight at 6:00 for game one of this week's conference series with the Cougars.
