The Western Boone 8th grade girls basketball team hosted the Crawfordsville Athenians last night. The Stars started off hot with 15 points in the 1st quarter their highest of the year. The Stars defense was tough, not allowing the Athenians to get many shot opportunities. The Stars continued their tough defense shutting out the Athenians in the 2nd, leading 22-2 at half. The defense continued in the 2nd half, leading to several fast break opportunities. The Stars transition offense continues to improve. Molly Rausch lead the team in rebounds, Bryar King and Ella Oakley had several steals. The Stars were lead in scoring by Ady Nicley with 20, Bryar King 4, Ella Oakley, Katheryn Gott, Molly Rausch, and Avery Fields each added 2. On Tuesday night, the Western Boone 7th grade Lady Stars faced the Crawfordsville Athenians and secured a 32-18 victory. Jayden Paris led the charge with 12 points, while Kora Kistler added 8 and Quinn Cunningham chipped in 7. Jade Hobson contributed 4, and Bella Edwards scored 1. Though the girls struggled a bit in the opening minutes, their defensive intensity quickly took over, creating turnovers and easy offensive opportunities. That sparked the momentum, allowing the Stars to build a comfortable lead by halftime. With this win, the team improves to 11-1 on the season. They’ll be back in action this Saturday at South Montgomery, facing the Athenians again in the Sugar Creek Classic at 9 a.m. Go Stars!
