The Western Boone Lady Stars faced the Cascade Cadets on Friday afternoon in an intense, defensive battle that went all the way to overtime. The Stars came out with tremendous energy, setting the tone early with a strong 1–3–1 defensive scheme. Junior Ally Lewis and senior captain Emerson Gott led the offense in the first quarter, combining for 9 points. After eight minutes of play, the game was tied 9–9. Defense dominated the second quarter as both teams locked in. Western Boone held Cascade to just 5 points, while the Stars scored 8 of their own. Ila Stokes hit a clutch three-pointer to help push the Stars ahead, and Western Boone took a 17–14 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, Isabella Fettig added a smooth layup, while Lewis scored four more points to keep the game close. At the end of three quarters, the Cadets narrowly led 25–23. The fourth quarter belonged to freshman Cadence Paris, who stepped up in a big way. Paris drained two three-point baskets and played tremendous defense, giving the Stars a huge boost. After a last-second three by Cascade, the game was tied at 35–35, sending both teams into overtime. Overtime was just as intense, with both teams playing with heart and grit. Senior captain Emerson Gott stepped up for the Lady Stars, scoring the only points of overtime for Western Boone with a strong layup and one made free throw. Despite the effort, Cascade edged out the Stars by two points in a tough overtime finish. The Lady Stars will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they take on Cardinal Ritter. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Western Boone Lady Stars as they continue their season.
