Swim teams splits with Mavericks of McCutcheon

The Boys and Girls swim team hosted McCutcheon High School for some great competitions Monday evening. The girls started the night with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Joan Gearheart, Eisley Whitely, Lindsey Steimel, and Claire Torp. Evie Maurath took 2nd in the 200 Free and 100 Free, and Eisley Whitely cruised to 1st in the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke. Kate Higer swam for 2nd place and a new season best time in the 50 Free, and Kate Foy placed 2nd in diving. Lindsey Steimel captured 1st in the 100 Butterfly, Rylee Pelley swam hard for 1st in the 500 Free, and Joan Gearheart placed 1st in the 100 Backstroke. The girls also placed 1st in the 400 Free Relay (Evie Maurath, Joan Gearheart, Lindsey Steimel, Eisley Whitely), and 2nd in the 400 Free Relay (Rachel Rustin, Rylee Pelley, Ellie Whitely, Rebecca Rustin). The girls fought hard and won over McCutcheon 95 to 88. For the boys competitions, Jacob Norman finished 1st for the boys team in the 200 Free and the 500 Free, and Henry Biggs placed 2nd in the 200 Free. Isaac Threlkeld swam for 1st place in the 200 IM, and Alex Crockett finished 2nd with a new season best time. Brayden Schick swam for a new PR in the 50 Free, and Blaine Ballentine took 2nd place in diving. Landon Smith and Wes Redman both swam new season best times in the 200 Free, and Liam Whitely finished in 1st place in the 100 Breaststroke with a new PR. The boys also took 1st in the 400 Free Relay and 2nd place in the 200 Free Relay. Despite their best efforts the boys team fell to McCutcheon with a final score of 79 to 106. The Stars will compete again Thursday evening when they travel to Frankfort.
