Western Boone’s Emmerson Gott played in the Class 1A/2A Senior match. Gott played in the Junior All-Star game last year, but said this year was even more special. “It was a little more memorable this year, because it’s my last year,” Gott said. “To end on a bang, getting a win with a bunch of phenomenal volleyball players was really special.” Gott said she came into this year more confident and ready to go, in part because of the experience this high school season when she had to learn to play with a lot of new players. In the match itself, Gott came away with four kills and a block, helping the North win the match, 2-1 (25-14, 25-17, 24-26). “We definitely wanted to get the win, because last year we didn’t,” Gott said. “We were (really motivated) and we got the win.” Gott plans on continuing her playing career in college, and expects to make her decision official in the upcoming weeks. She said that she is thankful for all the opportunities Western Boone volleyball has given her. “Even though this year wasn’t the best (record wise), it was still memorable because of the people around me,” Gott said. “I am going to remember the culture of WeBo volleyball and the friendships. Even if we didn’t play our best, I could always leave the games knowing I had my best friends around me and we had a really strong bond.” She was also happy she got to represent the Stars one more time on a big stage, and got to serve as an inspiration to the next generation of Stars. “It’s really special because, especially my younger sister and cousins, they look up to me and I take a lot of pride in that,” Gott said. “I’ve worked so hard all my life for this, so it’s just special to feel it paying off.” Will Willems is the Sports Editor of the Lebanon Reporter.
