Junior High Tennis Continues Dominance on the Court in 2025

Another year, another dominating season for the Waldron Mohawks junior high tennis team. Even with a gauntlet of a schedule, against perennial powers like New Palestine, Seymour, Shelbyville, and Columbus, the Mohawks put together another great season. The Mohawks finished the year 16-3 overall, with their three losses coming to 4A Shelbyville (4-1), New Palestine (3-2), and Columbus Central (3-2). Experience was the name of the game from top to bottom for the Mohawks on the court, as a large number of varsity players were 8th graders. Many of these youngsters were a part of the squad that went undefeated in 2024, so expectations coming into this season were high and they played well. The Mohawks won their own invitational in September, defeating Indian Creek in the first match & besting Benjamin Rush Middle School in the championship match. Despite not having a conference tournament due to most MHC schools not having a middle school squad, the Mohawks defeated those that did in convincing fashion. Junior High Mohawk tennis will say goodbye to a tremendous group of 8th graders that will move on to the high school squad next season. Noah Leap, Ollie Kuhns, Luke Thomas, Trenton Allen, & Tanner Cockerham will all move on to the high school after having tremendous junior high careers. Their overall record will be hard to match, as will their leadership & toughness.
