The Mohawks traveled to the home of the East Central Trojans to face off in their final match of the season. We are grateful to East Central for rescheduling this match after last week's rainout, especially right before they host their sectionals this week. For most of the Mohawks' matches, they started out evenly with their opponents and pulled away to victory as the match went on. Varsity Scores: 1 Singles - Noah Leap with a score of 8-3. Leap started out slow but pulled out all of the stops to claim a victory for this last match. 2 Singles - Harrison Fischer with a score of 8-2. Fischer started his match off on the right foot and with great energy to easily cruise over his opponent. 3 Singles - Ollee Kuhns with a score of 8-6. Kuhns struggled to find his rhythm in the first half of his match. After being down 2-6, he sparked a new mentality of patience that led him to win the last 6 games of his match and come away victorious. 1 Doubles - Luke Thomas and Lucas Lemmons with a score of 9-8 (7-2). Thomas and Lemmons stayed even with their opponents all night until the Trojans went up 7-6, 40-0. With three match points, Thomas and Lemmons fought back to tie the score at 7-7, and then again at 8-8 to go to a tiebreak. Once the tiebreak started, the tennis skills came out and Thomas and Lemmons finished the tiebreak 7-2, tying up the Mohawk's last match win as a 5-0 win. 2 Doubles - Tanner Cockerham and Trent Allen with a score of 8-3. Cockerham and Allen played a great match against their opponents, with some nicely placed shots and teamwork. JV Scores: 1 Singles - No match was played at this position. Lemmons (Austin) was planned to play this position, but sat out due to injury. 1 Doubles - Deegan Smith and Max Leising with a score of 6-1. Smith and Leising paired up tonight for the last match of the season and rocked their match with only giving up one game. 2 Doubles - Garrett Stocklin and Kiefer Cockerham with a score of 0-6. Stocklin and Cockerham played the same opponents as Stocklin and Leising, but struggled to hang with their opponents. They played a tough match, but ultimately fell short of the win. The Mohawks conclude their season with a team record of 16-3 (14-3).
