The Jr. High Lady Mohawks pulled off an exciting comeback to defeat Indian Creek in three sets. After dropping the first set 16-25, the girls found their rhythm and turned things around in the second. Down 3-5 early in the second set, Remi Hewson stepped up and served eight straight points, giving the Mohawks a 6-point advantage. Strong serving continued throughout the set, and a big ace from Azalia Rader sealed the win, 25-13. The third set was a nail-biter. Trailing 8-11, Caroline Kuhn served three straight points to tie the game. Evan England then helped push the Mohawks ahead 14-12, and a missed serve by the Lady Braves secured the victory for the Mohawks. Wryn Miller, Mollie Rouse, and Kiya Scott all made key contributions with solid digs and relentless hustle on the court. The Mohawks improve to 3-4 on the season and 2-2 in MHC play. They’ll wrap up the week on the road at South Decatur, with a 5:30 p.m. start time.
