It was a busy week for the Jr. High Lady Mohawks with three matches in four days. Both teams had some great moments, faced some tough competition, and continued to learn and grow throughout the week. **MONDAY vs. EDINBURGH** **7th Grade – Win in 2** The 7th grade Lady Mohawks started the week with a 2-game victory. **Spotlight Players:** **Willow Meadows-Alyea** – Recognized for always working hard both on and off the court, her willingness to try any position, and her positive, uplifting attitude. **Ella Watson** – Had an incredible night serving with 9 good serves and 14 aces. **8th Grade – Win in 3** The 8th grade Lady Mohawks battled through 3 games to earn the win. **Spotlight Player – Olivia Burris** Olivia was recognized for her all-around effort and contributions throughout the match. **TUESDAY at INDIAN CREEK** **7th Grade – Loss in 3** The 7th grade girls faced a solid Indian Creek team and fought hard throughout the match. They came back from a deficit in the first game to earn the win, with some clutch serving from Brooklyn Thomas helping turn things around. Although the match didn’t end the way we hoped, several players gained valuable playing time, and the girls learned a lot about teamwork, attitude, and covering the floor. **Spotlight Players:** **Brooklyn Thomas** – 9 good serves, 3 aces, 4 digs, and 2 assists. Her clutch serving helped spark the comeback **Laila Williams** – Put forth an all-out effort all night, hustling no matter what position she was playing. Laila finished with 7 good serves, 1 ace, 3 digs, and 7 kills. **8th Grade – Loss in 2** The 8th grade Lady Mohawks faced a tough Indian Creek team and fell in 2 games. Even without the win, the girls continue to come together as they adjust to a different rotation and new positions. **Spotlight Player – Libby Hash** Libby hustled throughout the match, covered the floor well, and played strong all around. **THURSDAY vs. SOUTH DECATUR** **7th Grade – Win in 3** The 7th grade Lady Mohawks came out in the first game playing some of their best volleyball of the season. The hard work happening in practice and their growing understanding of the game really came together, especially at the net. After falling behind in the third set, the girls found a way to battle back and earn the win, with excellent serving from Lettie AmRhein and great overall teamwork helping finish the comeback! **8th Grade – Loss in 2** It was a tough night for the 8th grade Lady Mohawks as they fell in 2 games to the Cougars. The first game was close throughout, with South Decatur coming out on top. Unfortunately, several errors in the second game made it difficult to regain momentum. Even on the tough nights, these girls continue to learn, adjust, and grow together. **CURRENT RECORDS** **7th Grade – 7-3 Overall | 4-2 MHC** **8th Grade – 4-6 Overall | 2-5 MHC** Next Up: 8th Grade Celebration Night Both teams are back in action Monday night at home vs. the Southwestern Spartans at 6:00 PM. We’ll also be celebrating our 8th grade Lady Mohawks that evening. Come out and help us recognize these girls and cheer on both teams. 🏐💙
