The Lady Mohawks played for the fourth straight night and hosted the Spartans of Connersville for the first time ever in girls tennis. The Spartans came in with a nice 12-6 record and proved too strong at singles play and went home with a 3-2 victory over the host Mohawks. #1 doubles Emerson Lindsey and Jackie Corlett improved to 16-1 together with a nice 6-2, 6-3 win over Cam Butts and Trinitee Steele. #2 doubles Malia Murphy and Hannah Rouse won 7-5, 6-1 over Maddie Harrison and Ella Miller. #1 singles Riley Thurston ran into one half of a great sister duo losing 6-0, 6-2 to Sophia Starr. #2 singles Ava Leising played the other great sister falling 6-1, 6-0 to Bella Starr. It came down to freshman Leah Kuhn at #3 singles. Leah raced out and won the first set 6-3, then her opponent Amielya Mays played consistent to take the second set 6-2. In the third set, Leah fought hard but could not stay consistent in falling 6-2. Loved the fight and want from Leah as she continues to grow in her play. JV Action Madeline Walker lost to Abby Keal. Ruby England fell 8-3 to Cat Groves. Lillian Mann won 8-4 over Frances Kelly. Kate Kuhn and Taylor Stewart lost a tough tiebreaker 8-7 (7-3) to Sophie Neal and Tessa Kelley. Talyor Stewart and Lorelie Wagner lost 6-4 to Ella Poe and Addy Storms. Another day another match on Saturday with MHC Conference tourney at 8am! Thanks !
