The Lady Mohawks started this week on the road and traveled to sectional foe Shelbyville on Monday night. The Golden Bears prevailed 3-2 on a beautiful, sunny, and no wind evening! #1 doubles Emerson Lindsey and Jackie Corlett dominated 6-2, 6-0 over Megan Childres and Reese Fortune. #2 doubles Madeline Walker and Hannah Rouse battled through two tough tiebreakers to win in straight sets 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5) over Abby Huntsman and Ava Fralich. #1 singles Riley Thurston ran into one of best players in the area and lost 6-2, 6-0 to Ava Muckerheide. #2 Ava Leising also lost in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to Sophia Asher. Match came down to #3 singles where Malia Murphy started off slow losing first set 6-1 to Jenna Jarsen. Malia fought back in the second set winning 7-5 . In the third set, Malia battled but came up short 6-2. JV ACTION #1 singles Leah Kuhn lost 6-4 to Mia Robbins. #2 singles Ruby England lost 6-0 to Corrinne Aldridge #3 singles Maddie Hungerford won 6-4 over Macy Larrison. #1 doubles Kate Kuhn and Taylor Stewart lost 6-1 to Jocelyn McFarland and Chloe Caldwell. #2 doubles Lorelie Wagner and Lillian Mann lost 6-2 to Ava Van Wye and Paige Bohman. The Lady Mohawks return home on Tuesday with a conference match against Edinburgh at 4:30pm.
