The Mohawks opened their season tonight by traveling to their sister school and district opponent, the Morristown Yellow Jackets. This is a new opponent on the schedule this year, and the Mohawks were excited to get their season started. Of the 14 players, 8 are returning and 6 are brand new to the sport. Coach Sheaffer is excited for this season, as last year was a growing season for the girls, and this year they will able to see the fruits of their labors. The Varsity swept all five positions: 1 Singles - Caroline Kuhn with a score of 8-0 2 Singles - Gracie Walker with a score of 8-1 3 Singles - Evan England with a score of 8-4 1 Doubles - Alexis Messmore and Jenna Strehle with a score of 8-1 2 Doubles - Brooklyn Thomas and Vivian Kuhn with a score of 8-3 The JV went 2-2: 1 Singles - Justice Worley with a score of 6-4 1 Doubles - Gracee McConnell and Caroline Thomas with a score of 6-0 2 Doubles - Avery Smith and Delilah Taylor with a score of 3-6 3 Doubles - Dani Berauer and Jazmine Laughlin with a score of 0-6 With the first match of the season over and some nerves and rust knocked away, the Mohawks turn their faces to their most likely toughest match of the season on Thursday: the Columbus Central Chargers.
