The Lady Alices went down to Evansville Central for a conference matchup. After waiting for multiple weather delays, the kickoff eventually happened around 8:15 EST. The Lady Alices would fall behind in the 33rd minute of the first half, only to equalize seconds later, thanks to a goal from Maddy Mitchell. The Alices would fall behind again in the 24th minute, equalizing again in the 14th minute thanks to a tap-in from JJ Riggs, assisted by Brylee Quinett from a corner. The Lady Alices would take the lead with 4 minutes left to go in the 1st half off of another JJ Riggs goal being assisted by Quinett from a corner again. The Lady Alices would go into the half-time break 3-2. The score would stay this way throughout the second half, up until the last 5 minutes. With 5 minutes remaining, Evansville Central was given a free kick 25-30 yards away, which they shot right over the keeper, Javelin James. James couldn't get enough of it to punch it over the goal. With 2 minutes to go, Evansville Central played a long through ball that was miscommunicated by the Alices. This resulted in Central having a wide-open goal to put the game at 4-3 with 2 minutes left to go. "It was a fantastic game. The mistakes that are usually made when it's a wet turf game weren't made. Defensively, it was actually one of the better games of the season. In the goal, we just weren't physically tall enough to deal with 2 of their goals as they went between the gap of the keeper's hands and the crossbar. It's unlucky, but it's the fine margins of the game, and we have to find a solution to resolve it fast. With their game-winning goal, I'll have to see and sort out what happened with the communication between the players, but it's something that we have to get fixed, especially with it being in the closing stages of the season. This was another game where we controlled a lot of the ball and got the ball into dangerous areas, and while the finishing was much better today, I still expected there to be more goals. Ultimately, we really needed to win this game, and we really should've. Soccer is a cruel sport, and tonight was a night where it showed its cruelty to us. It's a lesson of sports and life that you can do everything the way you're supposed to for most of the time, but those small moments when you don't, there will be consequences."
