Girls Track team ends season with 4 at regionals

Regionals didn't complete our season with PRs as we anticipated. We had a couple sick runners that came out with fever to complete their season. A lot of heart and effort showed up last night that is not reflected in the scoring. At the season's close, two things stand out: The training workouts of Kaitlyn Johnson and Lillian Marley were great - these two were on track to run PRs on Tuesday, just like they've been doing this season. Their positive, hard work got them both to regionals and set up to run great races. Lauren Story has natural speed combined with tenacity and a competitors' heart - she struggled with a hamstring injury the last half of the season, but continued to work through it and give her best. Eaton was consistently a high scorer in the discus this year and a repeat competitor at regionals. We're looking ahead to next year - I expect these girls to be competitive at the regional level. This was our rookie year, and we all learned. We are looking forward to more focused winter conditioning and starting next season with racing experience. We have a strong group of 8th graders coming up, great summer opportunities, and a young team with a ton of potential. I couldn't be more happy for each of these girls and my first year coaching. It was a wonderful season. Our high finisher was Story in the 100 prelims, taking 13th in 13.26. Eaton was 14th in discus, Johnson 15th in the mile, and Marley 16th in the 800.
