Vincennes Lincoln High School has named Rob Flanagan as its new head boys basketball coach. Flanagan replaces Dave Mahurin and brings a distinguished coaching career highlighted by sustained success, program building, and Hall of Fame recognition. Flanagan, a 2019 inductee of the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame, has accumulated 598 career victories over his head coaching career. He began his head coaching tenure at Cisne High School, where he compiled a 61-45 record. He then led Carterville High School to a 60-44 mark over four seasons. Flanagan spent the majority of his career at Richland County High School (Olney, IL), where he built one of the most successful programs in Southern Illinois. During his 27 seasons leading the Tigers, he posted a 477-298 record, becoming the winningest coach in school history while guiding the program to multiple conference championships and postseason appearances, including a 3rd place finish in the 2008 IHSA State Tournament. Across his coaching stops at Cisne, Carterville, and Richland County, Flanagan’s overall win total stands at 598 career wins, placing him among the most accomplished coaches in Southern Illinois. Flanagan takes over a Vincennes Lincoln program with a rich basketball tradition and strong community support. He will begin his duties immediately as he leads the Alices into the next chapter of their program. Vincennes Lincoln High School is pleased to welcome Rob and his wife, Kristin, to the school and the Vincennes community.
