The Indian cross country teams made the long drive down to Union County on Tuesday night for the Union County Invitational to battle other area teams and the heat. While it wasn't a great meet for everyone due to coming back from illness and running in the heat again unlike previous meets there were a lot of bright spots and things that we can build on as we continue to head towards the championship part of the season. Ava Jefferis, lead the way for the Indians as she battled up front with two girls from Seton Catholic and Erica Grubbs from Winchester who she is very familiar with. The pack stayed together going into the third mile and into the wooded area and everyone spread out some. After crossing the finish line Ava finished with a time of 22:51 and a fourth place finish. (This was Ava's fastest time that she had ran on this course). Campbell Kerns was the next Indian to cross the finish line and after battling illness over the last couple of weeks was able to run to a top 25 finish and just missing out on her PR. Kerns crossed the finish line in 24th place with a time of 33:28. Once Campbell gets back to healthy running she will continue to do big things for the Indians. Kara Walser coming off her best race of the season was the final Indian to cross the finish line. Walser had a great start to the meet before struggling with the heat with one mile to go. Walser was able to run a solid race with the heat finishing in 26th place with a time of 35:37. Jackson Liss lined up for the boys race and just missed running his PR. Liss has continued to improve his time and get better all season and with the help of a new sweat band was able to run close to his PR and battled to a 24th place with a time of 25:34.
