The JH Cross Country Team opened their season Saturday at the Treaty City Invitational at the Greenville City Park. This year's team has four returning runners and four new runners joining. There were 184 JH Girls that finished the two mile race. Christiana Teegarden opened the season with an amazing finish of 13:58, which placed her 23rd place. Lyla Baldwin had a great finish with a time of 16:16, which placed her in at 90th position. Aleah Lacy had a finish of 18:21, but that does not reflect how proud we are of her ability to finish under challenging circumstances. The JH Boys had a total of 224 runners finish the race. Mikkel Hartman led the boys team with a 13:37 time, which was 80th position. Mikkel expects to do well again this year after a strong finish last year. Reid Kerms ran his first race with an excellent time of 14:26 for a 110 position. Brantlee Kobus ran his first race with a 21:29 finish for a 215 and Rowan Jones also finished his first race with a 23:39 time. Xander Elkins had a great finish for his first race with a 14:10 time, finishing 102. Reid, Brantlee,Xander, and Rowan did a great job for their first race and expect them to continue to improve throughout the season. For each student athlete running, no two races are ever the same, and some races presents challenges to overcome. We often find ourselves either making progress or making excuses, could not be more proud of the entire JH Cross Country Team!
