The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled to Monroe Central Saturday morning to open the season at the Meister Family Memorial Run. Both teams are small this year compared to passed years but after crossing the finish line everyone ran very well for the first meet of the season and will continue to get better with the hard work they are putting in during practice. The girls got things started for the Indians and Ava Jefferis lead the way crossing the finish line with a time of 23:25 and a 7th place finish. For the fourth year in a row Ava beat her time from the meet the previous year. Campbell Kerns running her first high school meet ever ran to a 35th place finish with a time of 31:08. Kerns made progress throughout the race and was able to get better each mile. Kara Walser was the next Indian to finish and in her first high school race did very well. Walser crossed the finish line in 45th place with a time of 34:26. Watch for Kara to continue making progress this season as well and being ready to battle each meet. Jackson Liss is the only Boy runner representing the Indians this season and he did very well for his first high school meet of his career. Liss was able to cross the finish line in 95th place with a time of 32:02. Jackson had a great start to the race before struggling with the heat then was able to regroup and get to the finish for a solid run. The Indian teams are back in action on Wednesday August 28th at Pendleton Heights for the Arabian Roundup The JH teams open their season Thursday August 29th at Monroe Central
