Written and pictures with permission to published from Jesus Jimenez Thank you Jesus RICHMOND, Ind. - Zack Fulk pitched a complete game and struck out 10 as No. 7-ranked Union City defeated Cambridge City Lincoln 11-2 in the IHSAA Class A Sectional 56 Championship game on Monday, May 27, on John Cate Field at McBride stadium. Union City (15-6) wins the fifth sectional in program history and will play No. 6-ranked Wes-Del in the regional championship on Saturday. Details for the time and location of that game will be announced on Wednesday. Corbin Richards and Brennen Hoggatt each went 3-for-4 and scored a run to lead the UC offense, while Hoggatt had three RBIs, Richards tripled and drove in one. Owen Dowler went 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run, while Trendon Spence and Caleb Lutz each also added two hits. Spence had two RBIs and scored two runs, while Luke Collins also added a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Jayson Connor and Brayden Huggins each scored twice, while Fulk added a run and an RBI. UC also stole six bases, including two by Spence and one each from Connor, Huggins, Dowler and Collins. WES-DEL 3, COWAN 0 Jared Ladd pitched a complete game shutout, striking out four as Wes-Del defeated Cowan 3-0 to win Sectional 55. Tyler Summers and Kade Banter each had two hits to lead the offense, while Brady Burden and Banter each had an RBI. Wes-Del (14-10) has won seven sectionals, two regionals and a semistate championship. Union City seeks its first regional title in baseball.
