The boys 4x400 relay made the long drive to Pike High School on Thursday night for the regional and came away with a 11th place finish and just missing out on breaking their own school record. Going into the race the boys were seeded 14th out of 16 teams in a race that everyone gets excited for and they would be racing some of the top teams in the state for the 4x400 relay. The goals for the race were to place 12th or better and break the record that they set a week ago of 3:31.31. Once the night was finished they just missed their record finishing with a time of 3:31.44 but were able to place 11th. This 4x400 relay team has been fun to watch for all of us including the coaches and teams from schools around our area now that the bar has been raised the question is which team will be the next one to take a shot at breaking the record. We are going to miss two huge pieces in Alec Spence and Conner Walser we also have a lot of talent to continue making this relay team great. Big thank you to all of the kids on both teams for pushing each other this season to be better and making us coaches better along the way. Thank you parents for being supportive to your kids and attending the track meets to cheer them on and picking them up when they were struggling. You have all raised great student athletes and we appreciate you for that. Thank you to Mr. Welch for being the leader of the pack and making sure that we were able to get to all of our meets safe and on time this season. Thank you to Jeremy Jones for setting us up every week with a bus and providing top notch service to the buses that I had to drive to the girls sectional and boys regional. One last big thank you goes out to Mr. Thornburg for everything he has done for every sports program while he has been at Union City. Without you spending long hours and staying on top of everything we would have been lost. We hope you enjoy your retirement!
