By Justin Daniels | May 15, 2024 11:10 AM

The lady Indians boarded the bus one last time on Tuesday for a chance to advance to the Indianapolis Pike Regional and like it has all season the meet started with rain and continued off and on throughout the meet. The girls this season have ran almost every meet in the rain and they have taken it like champs and Tuesday was no different as many of the girls had some of their best races of the season. Maegan Dickmann and Campbell Kerns got the Indians going in the 100mh against twenty of the best girls in the area. Dickmann ran just shy of her PR and was able to place third in the heat to qualify for the finals. Kerns just missed her PR and just missing the finals with her 11th place finish. Dickmann lined up for the finals and after it was all finished crossed the finish line in 7th place. In the 100m dash Sofia Emrick and Novah Mote both ran their second best times of the year and if you have had the chance to see both girls run you would see that they some how manage to run the exact same times and take turns on who finishes first. On Tuesday it was Sofia finishing one spot ahead of Novah. Emrick placed 20th while Mote placed 21st for the Indians. Ava Jefferis said before the meet that she feels that she runs better in the rain and she proved that to be true in the 1600m run. Jefferis lined up with 23 other girls and one of the top distance runners in the nation and battled her way around the track and with a perfect race beat her PR by eight seconds and a 9th place finish. Ava was able to take 21 seconds off of her 1600m time since the beginning of the season. The 4x100 relay team of Emmi Kreiner, Allyson Carter, LuLu, Novah Mote were next for the Indians and ran their second best time of the season and placed 11th. The relay team is young and will continue to get better for next season. LuLu and Allyson Carter didn't have any time to waste and had to walk over to the check in after finishing the relay to get ready to run the 400m dash. LuLu ran her second best time of the season while not feeling the best and was able to cross the finish line in 11th while Allyson once again ran a new PR for the 6th meet in a row and was able to place 15th. Carter took off five seconds in her 400m time since the beginning of the season. Maegan Dickmann was next in the 300mh and ran her best time of the season. In an event that has not been her favorite this season she once again did great and placed 15th. Ava Jefferis was back on the track in the 800m run and like she did before ran to a new PR by three seconds and placed 16th. Ava took off ten seconds in the 800m time since the beginning of the season. Emmi Kreiner and Sofia Emrick were up in the 200m dash both girls ran some of their best times of the season. Kreiner just missed her PR and placed 14th while Emrick ran to a new PR and placed 21st for the Indians. The girls 4x400 relay team of Emmi Kreiner, Allyson Carter, Ava Jefferis and LuLu went out to close the night in the rain and just missed their best time of the season as all four girls ran great races and were able to place 10th. In long jump Campbell Kerns and Novah Mote both started the meet and it was Kerns having her best jump of the season after struggling at times. Campbell placed 12th for the Indians while Mote wasn't far behind and was able to jump to a 14th place. After not having a girl in throwing events for many years Sofia Emrick took on Shot Put during the middle of the season and on Thursday she was faced with throwing in the rain and was able to work to a 23rd place finish. Thank you girls for an awesome season and we look forward to having more success next season as the team continues to grow! LuLu we want to thank you for giving us the chance to be your coaches this season. You made our team better by your ability to compete but most importantly your leadership and willingness to make everyone around you a better person than they were the day before.
