The boys track team made their way back to Northeastern on Thursday night for the TEC track meet and once again battled the teams as well as the weather conditions. The boys didn't have their best meet of the season but their were a lot of great performances by each athlete and many continued to improve as we head into the sectional track meet next Thursday. The boys 4x800 relay team of Bradin Daniels, Alec Spence, Conner Walser and Alvaro Delgado Lopez got things started as the rain began and were able to run to a 2nd place finish to a very good team from Northeastern. Luis Nieto was next for the Indians in the 110mh just missed his PR and battled against the best in the TEC to a 11th place finish for the Indians. Colton Emrick and Wilson Aguliar-Mendez lined in up the 100mh dash and Emrick just missed his PR on his way to an 8th place finish and Aguilar-Mendez ran to a new PR and 14th place finish. In the 1600m run it was Scott O'Connor and Alvaro Delgado Lopez representing the Indians in a very tough race. After battling the rain the first race of the day Lopez-Delgado was able to cross the finish line in 14th. O'Connor wasn't far behind finishing 15th. Joseangel Perez-Contreras, Grant Elliott, Kolton Mills and Wilson Aguliar-Mendez were running the 4x100 relay for the first time this season and with minimal practice were able to beat their time from practice and finish in 6th place to score points for the team. Alec Spence and Jackson Cowper ran to 8th and 9th place finishes in the 400m dash. Both Spence and Cowper knew that they were going to need to have a great run to win and with the cold and wind it was Spence crossing the line in 8th while Cowper was right behind him in 9th. Grant Elliott and Luis Nieto were both in the 300mh and both had very good runs in a race that a lot of runners are afraid of. Elliott running the hurdles for the first time was able to run to a 11th place finish while Nieto running them just the second time just missed his PR and placed 13th for the Indians. The 800m race was a battle from the start with Conner Walser and Bradin Daniels working together like they have every other 800m race this season. Daniels maintained 2nd place throughout the meet while Walser fell back to forth for a short time before taking off with 150m to go to finish right behind Daniels for 3rd place. Jackson Cowper and Colton Emrick were the Indians lined up for the 200m dash. Both guys have been battling each other throughout the year and this time it was Cowper crossing in 11th while Emrick finished in 12th. Scott O'Connor was next in the 3200m race. In a race that is eight laps around the track O'Connor battled his way to a 13th place finish and became a fan favorite when he finished. The 4x400 relay team of Alec Spence, Bradin Daniels, Jackson Cowper, Conner Walser were up to close out the night and their TEC winning streak on the line and once again they didn't disappoint. Once things got started the lead grew each lap and the Indians were able to cross the finish line in 1st place ahead of second by five seconds. In High Jump Grant Elliott once again battled for the top spot and after it was all finish Elliott placed 2nd for the Indians. In Shot Put both Michael Miller and Kolton Mills both had great days for the Indians placing in the top 10. Miller with his third best throw of the season placed 6th while Mills just missed his PR placed 10th. Kolton Mills and Brayden Timmerman were both in discus and with Mills trying some new things was able to place 12th and Timmerman working through and injury placed 15th. Boys Long jump was Colton Emrick and Jackson Cowper. Both guys struggled with the long jump board being wet and slick were able to have a good day. Cowper placed 7th while Emrick placed 13th.
