The Indian Cross Country teams traveled back to Union County for the second time in two weeks for the Union County Invitational and came out with their best meet of the year. All of the Indian runners set new season best times or beat their times they had ran on the course last week. In the boys race Conner Walser got out in front of the field early in the race and never looked back. Conner continues to regain the confidence he had before his injury last season. Walser ran his second sub 18 min race in a row and proved that he is going to be with the lead pack at the county meet. Conner crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 17:49.8. Conner Cline had a goal to get back in the 20's after starting the season slower than he would have liked. Cline had a solid day staying with the pack and crossing the finish line in 13th with a time of 20:19.6. Conner took 1 minute and 29 seconds off his time that he ran on the course the previous week. This was a big confidence boost for Conner as he had been working to get back to where he was last season. It was good to have Scott O'Connor back in the lineup as he started the race near the middle of the pack and held on to his place throughout the who race and crossed the finish line in 25th with a time of 25:10.5. Scott was 48 seconds from setting a new PR for himself and was over 4 minutes faster than he was last week on the course. Josiah Bowers didn't have his best race of the season but he once again bettered his time from last season. Bowers took 47 seconds off his previous time this race and finished 26th place with a time of 26:07.0. Bowers continues to show everyone that one year of work can make a big difference in the sport of running. The Indians were without Gavin Elmore this meet due to an injury but are hoping that he is back in action on Saturday morning. In the girls race Ava Jefferis placed 6th in a very competitive race. Ava got back as high as 9th then began picking them off as she ran her best race of the season finishing with a time of 23:52.4. Ava took off 1 minute 23 seconds from last week. If the trend continues these final races of the season are where Ava normally picks her best times of the season. Ava set her PR at the end of last season and she is on track to do that once again. The Indians are back in action on Saturday morning at the South Adams Invitational with JH girls getting things started at 9:00 am and HS girls starting the high school portion at 9:50 am.
