The Indian Cross Country teams traveled to Union County to take on Monroe Central, Winchester and Union County and it was also the first time this season that the boys had every there and able to compete as a full team. The boys finished third pace out of the four teams competing but were competitive with Monroe Central and Winchester throughout the meet. After being absent the last three meets Conner Walser showed that he is one to watch when it comes time for the Randolph County meet. Walser hung with the lead pack during the whole race before crossing the finish line in 3rd with a time of 19:00.00. Walser ran his best time of the year as he continues to get better each week after the injury last season. Conner Cline had a great run for the Indians crossing the line in 10th with a time of 21:48 after battling with county runners throughout the race. Cline got separated from the pack and was on his own over the last mile of the race but he will have a larger pack to kick past on Saturday. Josiah Bowers continues to have a great year for the Indians as he finished 17th with a time of 25:43 and under a minute from his PR that he set a couple weeks ago. Bowers continues to take minutes off of the times that he ran last season at these course. Gavin Elmore has been able to do something in his first couple of meets that not many kids can do and that is go from the back with one mile left and pass multiple people without anyone knowing. Gavin had falling back while battling with Winchester only to come back into view of the fans and was ahead of two runners and less than a minute behind Bowers. Elmore finished 19th for the Indians with a time of 26:52. Scott O'Connor returned for the Indians and placed 20th with a time of 29:27 after falling in the wooded section of the course. Scott battled with Josiah Bowers throughout the meet until going down with roughly one mile to go. In the girls race Ava Jefferis crossed the finished line with a 9th place finish and a time of 25:29.5 and was set up to have her best meet of the season as she battled fellow Randolph County runners from Monroe Central and Winchester throughout the meet. Ava held onto 7th place until 50 yards to go when two girls she was battling with went off the course and returned blocking and passing her causing her to slow down and place 9th. The Indians are back in action on Saturday with the Junior High for the Randolph Southern Small School Invitational with high school girls starting at 9:00am.
