Indians travel to Pendleton Heights

The Indian Cross Country teams traveled to Pendleton Heights Wednesday night to take on 23 other teams from the area. We were one of the smallest teams there this year due to runners being out and I felt we did very well and were able to hold our own. Conner Cline once again made it clear that you can't be close to him going to the finish as he battled against a runner from Winchester all meet. Cline took off during the last 200m to make the pass against the fellow Randolph County runner at the finish line. Cline finished 87th for the Indians with a time of 22:33.14. Josiah Bowers took three minutes off of his time from the meet last year and has become the most consistent runner on the boy's team. Bowers finished 110th place with a time of 26:45.44. Bowers also had a drag race of his own heading to the finish line. Ava Jefferis has started the season very well and has been consistent each meet. Ava has either bettered or time or her placing in each meet from last season. Ava finished 53rd place with a time of 26:31.60 bettering her placing by 16 spots from last season. Ava did this after rolling her ankle during the meet and when some runners would have stopped or fell back, she maintained and kept going until she crossed the finish line. The Indians are back in action on Saturday at the Wapahani Invitational with girls starting at 9:00am. Once again, the race has been moved from the Muncie Sports Plex to Wapahani High School.
