The Indian cross country teams made the long drive to Pendleton Heights on Tuesday to do battle with the top teams in our area. During the morning the temperature looked like it was going to be a perfect day then it ended up getting warmer than expected. During the boys race all four boys had a great start and were within a short distance from each other as they crossed the first mile. While everyone ran solid races the heat started getting to them at mile two before they crossed the finish line at the 5k mark. Conner Walser was the first Indian to cross the line with a 13th place finish with a time of 18:07. Walser ran twenty seconds faster this year than he had the past season when he ran at Pendleton. Levi Clark had another great day for the boys team as he crossed the finish line in 62nd place with a time of 21:11. While Levi wasn't happy with his time he ran a great race against some very fast kids while he is still learning how to race in the heat of the day. Conner Cline wasn't far behind Levi as he had another solid day for the Indians crossing the finish line in 71st place with a time of 21:40. Cline was under one second from running his best time of the season but was able to beat his time from last season by one minute. Scott O'Connor once again had a great race running just ten seconds shy of his PR as he crossed the finish line in 92nd place with a time of 23:43. Scott continues to have a great season as he has run every single race so far this year finishing with a better time than last season. During the girls race Ava Jefferis continued her great season as she ran her second fastest time of the season and was able to take two minutes and thirteen seconds off of her time from last season. Ava crossed the finish line in 32nd place with a time of 23:27. The Indians are back in action on Saturday at Harter Park for the Coach Noffsinger Memorial Invitational with the following start times.
