🏈 Triton Falls to Caston, 40-8

FULTON — Triton battled through a difficult night on the road Thursday, falling to Caston 40-8 at Comet Field. Caston built a 21-0 halftime advantage and added 12 points in the third quarter to take a 33-0 lead into the final period. The Comets finished with 434 yards of total offense, including 256 rushing and 178 passing, while Triton was held to 83 total yards. The Trojans continued to battle despite the deficit and broke through in the fourth quarter behind Cayden Bradley. Bradley scored on a 21-yard run with 7:25 remaining and then ran in the two-point conversion to account for Triton's eight points. Bradley led Triton's rushing attack with 29 yards on 10 carries. Ryder Gayheart added 18 yards on 14 attempts, while Chris Fenton had two carries. The Trojans finished with 47 rushing yards on 26 attempts. Through the air, Bradley completed 4-of-10 passes for 31 yards, while Gayheart completed 1-of-3 for five yards. Blake Ousley led Triton with two receptions for 32 yards, including a 27-yard catch. Lukas Nicely caught two passes for five yards. Caston established its lead with three first-half rushing touchdowns. London Herd opened the scoring with a six-yard run before Ashton Bowyer scored twice in the second quarter, from seven and five yards out. The Comets turned to the passing game for two third-quarter scores. Logan Mollenkopf connected with Brayden Unger for a 44-yard touchdown and later found Landen Rigney for a 64-yard score. Caymen Brown added a seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to complete Caston's scoring. Bowyer led Caston on the ground with 93 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Mollenkopf completed 6-of-10 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns as the Comets accumulated 19 first downs. Defensively, Ashton Jacobs led Triton with 14 total tackles, including eight solo stops. Logan Collins recorded 12 tackles and two tackles for loss, while Christian McIntosh finished with seven tackles. Nicely had six tackles, Bradley recorded five, and Brayden Gunnels and Gayheart each had four. Nicely also averaged 35.3 yards on three punts, including a long of 47 yards and one punt inside the 20. Bradley returned three kickoffs for 79 yards, highlighted by a 41-yard return, while Gayheart had three returns for 58 yards. Triton finished with five first downs and converted two of five fourth-down attempts. The Trojans were penalized six times for 30 yards, while Caston was flagged 12 times for 122 yards.
