AKRON — Triton’s boys tennis team earned a hard-fought 3-2 road victory over Tippecanoe Valley on Monday, Aug. 31. The Trojans captured three straight-set victories after Tippecanoe Valley won a pair of competitive three-set singles matches. Levi McFarland defeated JJ Kammerer at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3. Triton also swept the doubles courts. Brayden Nifong and Max Johnson topped Will Parker and George Craig at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 7-5, while Clayton Andrews and Brady Heckaman defeated Tanner Glennie and Jordan Shepherd at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 6-0. Tippecanoe Valley earned its two points at the top of the singles lineup. Noah Mellott rallied past Max Ritchison at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Liam Newcomer also came from behind to defeat Colton Large at No. 2 singles, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4. Triton 3, Tippecanoe Valley 2 1S: Noah Mellott (TV) def.
