BOURBON — Triton suffered its first loss of the season Monday evening as Logansport earned a 4-1 victory in a matchup between two ranked District 3 contenders. The No. 6 Trojans entered the match undefeated at 6-0, but the No. 5 Berries claimed two singles victories and both doubles matches to hand Triton its first setback. Junior Levi McFarland secured Triton’s varsity point at No. 3 singles, defeating Shane Pearson 6-3, 6-3. Logansport took the other two singles positions in straight sets. Owen Hankins defeated Max Ritchison 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Blake Pearson topped Colton Large 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Both doubles matches went three sets. Brayden Nifong and Max Johnson battled Taylor Albright and Trace Young at No. 1 doubles before falling 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Clayton Andrews and Camden Large won the opening set against Kaleb Loman and Cooper Huffman. The Logansport pair responded by taking two closely contested sets to earn a 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory. Logansport also won the junior varsity competition 4-2. Camden Large earned an 8-3 singles victory, while Oliver Ickes and Jackson Faulkner teamed for a 4-0 doubles win. The varsity Trojans are now 6-1 this season. Varsity 1s: Owen Hankins (L-Jr) def.
