BOURBON — Triton closed out its Hoosier North Athletic Conference schedule in championship fashion Tuesday night, defeating Argos 13-1 in five innings at Ken Keller Field. The win wrapped up conference play for the Trojans with a 15-1 HNAC record. Since Caston was the only team to defeat Triton in conference play and the Comets lost to Pioneer on Tuesday night, the Trojans claimed the Hoosier North Athletic Conference championship outright. Triton jumped ahead early, scoring five runs in the first inning before adding eight more in the second. That was more than enough support for the pitching staff, as Blake Ousley, Jadyn Prater and Maddox Dennie combined to hold Argos without a hit. The no-hitter was Triton’s second straight against Argos after Levi McFarland and Owen Holbrook combined for a no-hitter in Monday’s 28-0 win. Ousley earned the win on the mound, throwing two hitless innings with three strikeouts. Prater followed with two hitless innings and two strikeouts, and Dennie finished the game with a hitless fifth inning while striking out two. Argos scored its lone run in the fifth without recording a hit. Offensively, Jadyn Prater helped lead the Trojans, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base. Levi McFarland went 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBIs and a walk, while Brayden Gunnels finished 2-for-2 with a run, an RBI and a walk. Maddox Dennie added a double and drove in three runs, while Braxton Kaufman doubled, scored twice, drove in a run and stole a base. Trey Tarlton also doubled, scored twice, drove in a run and stole a base. Drew Bingamon added a hit, a run and a stolen base. Brady Montgomery took the loss for Argos. Ioan Petz worked 2.1 scoreless innings in relief for the Dragons.
